M AY  2025   NEWSLETTER

Acting As If..

A few years back, I discovered another powerful gratitude practice. This goes above and beyond being grateful for what IS in your life, in the present moment. For several years, I have been applying this new idea in my life with great results. What it involves is writing a letter to Spirit or Your Higher Power, not only expressing thankfulness for the blessings in your life right now, also making sure
to include writing about what you are thankful for in the future, as if it has already happened. It is affirming to know that Spirit is listening, and watching things come to pass as imagined and written down. This gratitude practice definitely works!

Recently, I shared this practice with a friend who was fretting in advance about a future move to another place. She listened to me, and tried it, and feels much more peace about the move. And thanked me. I have told many others about writing about future things to be thankful for, and she is the one person I know about who tried it and feels completely grateful to have learned about it. Give it a try.

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
Melody Beattie

In a search on amazon, I tried to find the author whose book I read that promoted this idea. I was unable to find her, yet I found out that there are many journals and books promoting being grateful in advance. You don’t really need a book though. Just a pen and paper. When I first heard the idea, I wrote a new letter every single day!
Now I write a letter about once a week, and read it almost every morning to let it sink in deeper. The author I read started her letters with “Dear CSO” (Chief Spiritual Operator). That makes me smile.

A similar idea is to make a Vision Board that you can look at all the time. Create it with pictures
of things you would like to manifest in your life, using magazine or web pictures or you can even draw pictures. On your Vision Board, you could put, for example, travel photos to faraway lands (if that tickles your fancy); a new partner/love in your life, or whatever you imagine for yourself! Once, when I was wishing to lose weight, I used a woman in a yoga pose with a body I really liked, and placed my own head on it instead of hers. I looked at her every day, and envisioned myself that way, and was able to lose weight. You could put qualities you would like more of in your life, such as Joy or Inner Peace. If it’s self love, you could put a picture of a person hugging him or her self, for instance. A Vision Board is a visual letter to the Universe, showing what you would like to see down the road. Be creative and have fun!

“Look closely at the present you are constructing; it should look like the future you are dreaming.”
 Alice Walker

How completely grateful I am to watch what I am dreaming come to fruition.

There is such power in knowing we can manifest what we desire, if we don’t hang it up with conflicting thoughts, or a belief
that we don’t deserve.

I firmly believe in the potential of visualizing and visioning, and I delight in watching
as Life says an enthusiastic YES!

Hi everyone! This enews is about JOY. Keeping joy in your life, adding joy to your life, and spreading more joy in the world. I feel like we could all use more joy right about now. So, I will share ways I know about to help you uncover more joy and happiness in your life, if you are having a hard time.
Joy is closely related to my favorite subject, gratitude. When we appreciate our lives, and all of the blessings we have, naturally we feel good and joy springs up into our hearts. We can smile and laugh so much easier. I feel fortunate to be an optimistic person by nature, and that helps me all the time with my joy levels. Even if you’re pessimistic by nature or sad, there are still things you can do to make yourself feel better. Check out the Joy Practices below.
Sometimes something annoying happens in my life, and I let it get to me. (A few examples: a grumpy person I talk to; bots who are so hard to communicate with; an unexpected bill) I can return to more joy and happiness by listening to music I love, stopping to meditate; enjoying beautiful artwork; going into nature; and/or talking to an upbeat friend who will listen and not try to fix anything. Recounting my favorite reasons for gratitude always brings my spirits up again too.

I just can’t be in a bad mood when feeling grateful. It’s impossible, really. I’ve had someone challenge me in a Gratitude Workshop I facilitated when I stated that one can’t be unhappy or mad when thankful. She disagreed emphatically. In retrospect, I wish I had handed her my Grace of Gratitude Journal for her to write in regularly, and then checked in with her later. :)

For me, gratitude transforms my life in amazing, beneficial ways! I started this practice in 2012 and have been going strong ever since.

I am grateful for my happy, joyful heart! And for sharing the superpower of gratitude with others.
May it transform your life as it has mine.

Thank you, Universe, for providing infinite opportunities to appreciate!

MARCH   2025   NEWSLETTER

Happy Spring to those in the Western Hemisphere!

The skies have been grey with lots of rain this winter here in Oregon. We even had some late snow in Feburary too. Now, I’m SO grateful to hear frogs croaking and singing each night in our pond. I am in love with the frogs in our pond! They are the happy announcers of Spring almost here! To see signs of Spring everywhere, to feel more warmth, and enjoy the sunshine is bliss.

The focus for this March newsletter is Recharging Our Gratitude Practices. When the outside world is getting me down, there is no better cure than to start recounting what I am thankful for in my life.
Actually, I do this every single morning, in my prayer and meditation time, and in the evening before I go to bed too. Being grateful always sets a positive, uplifting tone in my heart and soul. I’ve listed some ways we can amplify gratitude in our lives, to let it be a Superpower.

Picture

BASK IN NATURE!

I am blessed to be living in the forest in Oregon.
It gives me a chance to walk in nature, to immerse myself in it every single day. Taking a Gratitude Stroll is highly recommended. Be quiet and with every step, feel the gratitude for beautiful nature and for life in general! And if
you aren’t blessed to live right in nature, go to a city park to enjoy the beauty all around.

MEDITATION

There are some beautiful gratitude meditations: Here are a couple I highly recommend:

GRATITUDE PRACTICE

Write in a Gratitude Journal –
www.graceofgratitude.com
(truly gorgeous journals!)
Beginners: start out by listing 5 things you are grateful for every day. Do this for 40 days and your life will improve dramatically. Then, keep going after the 40 days so it becomes a beneficial habit. If you already write in a journal, consider writing paragraphs about each thing, rather than making a short list.
I celebrate and revel in the coming of spring!
Nature dances with bright promise as she wakes from winter slumber
and begins parading her new green grass and colorful blossoms again.
As spring awakens, the flora and the fauna, my heart and spirit awaken to the new--

to whatever is about to come my way, and I dance with joy for all the new beginnings within and all around me.

Love and Light, Deborah

FEBRUARY  2025 NEWSLETTER

Some of you may have noticed I didn’t send out a newsletter in January. Life definitely got in the way. December landed my husband in the hospital twice, and I’m very grateful to report that he is doing great again. The second time he was able to go home was on my birthday 12-31-24, and I just couldn’t get organized enough to send out a January offering. So, here we are in February!

The focus for this February newsletter is Recharging Our Spiritual Batteries. When the outside world is getting me down, it is so important to refuel my connection with the Divine Beloved. Actually, I do this every single morning, in my prayer and meditation time. I can toss and turn in the night, and then when I spend at least an hour in the morning with practices that replenish my heart and soul, it sets a positive, uplifting tone for the day. Of course, I admit life tends to get in the way and I may forget my connection to All That Is, and then, I have to recalibrate again. I am very grateful for the tools in my spiritual tool box, some which I will share here, with links too.

COMMUNITY

Attend gatherings with like-minded people, whether in person or on zoom. This could be a church or synagogue, a meditation group, or any religion persuasion. I am in love with the community I am a part of, the Centers for
Spiritual Living (CSL.org) Every week, I visit on Sundays, and the service always inspires me, and I also get my quota of hugs for the week.

Spiritual classes. Take a class on zoom or in person. There you will get to know others on a deep level. I teach classes and this is very fulfilling for me and all who attend. Also, Tai Chi, yoga, dance and other movement classes can uplift us.

Social media. Besides connecting with friends, one can find wonderful. spiritual groups to connect with too.

GRATITUDE PRACTICE

Being grateful morning, noon and night amplifies the good in your life. Journaling is very potent.

OUR SPIRITUAL BATTERIES

I find that as I spiritual recharge, I go into a vibration of All Is Well and my vibration stays high. We can be spiritual warriors in trying times, and stay in light and love. I feel that is our most important job right now.

MUSIC

Of course, your own taste will guide you to listen to music that speaks to your heart and soul. YouTube offers many many possibilites. A few personal favorites of mine are anything by Karen Drucker, Faith Rivera, Snatam Kaur, and Sam
Garrett & Mollie Mendoza. I listen to instrumental Theta music by Steven Halpern in my prayer time, which always raises my vibration.

Here’s a current favorite of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=- 5M6iNpSfMM&list=RD-5M6iNpSfMM&start_ radio=1

MEDITATION

If you don’t meditate, try starting for just 5 minutes a day. Sitting still and feeling the connection you have (because we all have it) to Spirit or your Higher Power. There are many books on meditation. And if you already are a dedicated meditator, kudos!

I highly recommend a phone app, Insight Timer. It is free, and contains a vast library of offerings for the spiritually minded. Here is just one I love from YouTube and listen to whenever I’m feeling a bit down and consistently raises my spirit:

Here are some authors I have particularly resonated with: Wayne Dyer, Thich Nat Hanh, Florence Scoval Shinn, Gabrielle Bernstein, Michael A. Singer, Michael B. Beckwith, Steven Charleston and Mirabai Starr.

DECEMBER  NEWSLETTER

As this year winds to a close, with its amazing manifestations and also some disappointments or loss which are a natural part of life, I give thanks for all the people in my life who inspire me, and are awake and aware. So many of us are dedicated to making a positive difference in this world, and knowing I am not alone feels so gratifying. In November, I received a clear message from Spirit, which said “Keep
on keeping on” and talked about the importance of being a loving light-filled person in this world, envisioning more peace, more plenty, more love for all. Just because most human civilizations have been warlike and power-seeking in the past, does not mean it always has to be this way. As the Peace Song we sing at the closing of services at the Center for Spiritual Living says: “Let there be peace on earth, and let it beginwith me.” I believe I (and all of us) signed up before birth to be here at this particular time, and sometimes I wish I hadn’t. Then I summon up my bravery and courage and I do
keep on keeping on. This yer for me has been about more healing. I now belong to a 12-step program, and this was a missing link in my spiritual life. I am ultra-grateful for all I have learned and brought into my body, heart and mind. Like so many spiritual paths, I know it is God-inspired in every way.
VERY GRATEFUL.

Forever Thankful!
Sometimes I feel like a broken record, repeating grateful, positive ideas and messages over and over and over.

Yet, as a society don’t we bang the drum time and time again on what is wrong, what is not working?
I’m speaking of a prevailing, ongoing commentary of lack, scarcity, disease, nature catastrophes, war, domination – all with the predominating feeling of FEAR.
So consider my messages a healing balm.

I proudly and firmly bang my dream for love, peace, harmony, plenty, well-being, joy and all- good.
It is a steady, insistent beat, and I do not apologize. Forever thankful.

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

This month I am inspired to write about my own values, and of coming together in unity and love. In the U.S., it is a time of divisive politics as we get ready to vote for a new president in just a few days. If I’m not careful, I go into fear about a possible outcome. As I’ve been thinking and
meditating about it, I realize that almost everyone wants the same things in life – to feel loved and be loving, to have comfort, I believe we all wish for peace in the world. Most people are good and kind. Perhaps as we usher in a new president, we can also usher in more harmony. (Most of you know that I purposely wear rose-colored glasses. After all, someone’s gotta do it.)

How grateful I am to be truly free

I celebrate freedom in so many ways in my life: freedom to express myself; the freedom to live life how I want to live it; freedom to enjoy inner peace no matter what; freedom to be joyful, to be lighthearted, to be silly; freedom to love and care and lavish my love toward others and to me; freedom to stay strong in my spiritual beliefs, that help me to navigate unknown territories; freedom to stretch my boundaries and to explore . . .

Most of all, I appreciate my free will that is God-given. I am free to make choices in every minute of my life.

And when it appears I am not as free as I would like, I affirm my absolute independence and
I am thankful.

I am going to vote my personal values and principles. These are things I am definitely grateful for. I am so thankful for love, unity, peace, joy, truth, harmony, serenity, justice, respect, compassion, listening, and doing my best to understand opposing viewpoints. Absolutely, I feel that we are living in times of change, and we can usher in better times. Throughout the world, there are dictators dominating countries, there are two big wars, and there are divided factions in other countries too.

For me, the most powerful action I can take is to visualize the world I want to see. I spend time in prayer and meditation each morning seeing peace, seeing justice for all, seeing unity for us all.

From Centers for Spiritual Living; “Let us affirm together: I vote from a place of love, aligning my choices with compassion, integrity and the highest good for all. Each decision I make reflects my commitment to creating a world that works for everyone, a world rooted in kindness, love, unity and respect.”

Please vote your conscience. My conscience tells me that one presidential candidate stands for the values and principles I deeply believe in. And if she wins, we will have our first woman of color president. We will catch up with the rest of the world in letting a woman lead our country, as many other countries have already done.

And if you disagree with me, that’s okay! I accept and honor all divergent viewpoints. The important thing is to VOTE. Thank you all.
*Disclaimer: I fully realize there is corruption and lies coming from both major parties. I would like to see third parties brought into the mix from now on. Our system is not perfect, yet voting is ultra-important and every vote makes a difference.

Living in the Oneness is a goal of mine. I get there, immersed in peace and bliss often with my morning spiritual practices, which I will share here along with other ideas for you. Maybe some of what I offer will resonate with your own heart and soul. You can give any of the ideas here a chance. It is my goal to share love and light in this world, and to help transform the world by shining light where there is darkness whenever I can.

7 UPLIFTING PRACTICES

1.Start each day with spirituality. Whatever your religion or path to your Higher Power is, devote time each morning to focus on that. Make your coffee or tea, and settle in for some quality God time. You can start with just a few minutes, and maybe expand it as you feel called. Here are some things I do each morning, you can pick and choose. I read and contemplate pages from inspirational books, some of them Daily Guides. I sometimes listen to quiet instrumental background music that sets the mood to be silent and listen. I meditate some mornings longer than others. There are many amazing meditations you can find on YouTube or Insight Timer (an app I recommend). You can change it up, or keep listening to the same ones that lift your heart. Each morning I pray as well, for people who have asked me, and for my own life. When I do these practices, long or short, I feel connected to the Oneness. I feel connected to God.

2.Take Stillness Moments throughout the day. You can use a timer, on the hour for example, and that will remind you to take time to center yourself. This can really helpif you’re always busy and running around, and even if you’re not. Breathe and be thankful.

3.Take meditative walks. Being in nature rejuvenates me, and I savor the beauty of the seasons. Right now, fall leaves are starting to change here in the U.S. I know in the Southern hemisphere, Spring is beginning. Watch what’s around you, be present. Feel the Oneness in the living world, we are all part of it and when we take time to notice, we get anchored in unity and harmony.

4.Enjoy a gratitude practice. You can journal, and/ or you can stop and give thanks at any time. You canwrite things down, or speak them silently or aloud. It’s a powerful practice to be thankful right when you awake, and before you go to sleep. I have been a gratitude aficionado for 15 years or longer, and I can attest to the superpower of appreciating everything. You can never run out! Gratitude can be infinite like the universe upon universe that we live in. It’s definitely an antidote to depression and upset.

5.Learn a Mantra. It can be very helpful to find a mantra, or make one up, that means a lot to you, that you can remember and say to yourself if ever you are feeling bothered or upset by the outside world. Here is one I use: God is the Love that I AM. I repeat it as needed, sometimes during the middle of the night when I wake up and my mind is too active to fall back to sleep.

6.Use Movement Spiritually. Practice yoga, Tai Chi or Chigong. There are YouTube videos you can use to guide you. Dancing is also very freeing. Listen to music you love while moving that body.

7.Try a Burning Bowl Ceremony. Forgiveness and letting go of grievances is so essential to freeing yourself. This practice can be for someone else, or you. Write down things you would like to release or let go of, then have a sacred ceremony and put each piece of paper in a bowl, lighting the paper up to release what no longer serves you until they are all consumed by fire (Obviously be safe doing this!) Alternatively, you could put the pieces of paper in a bowl, and then send them down a river. I have done both, and this is a very powerful way to heal.

Fall is a time of bounty and harvest. Our gardens gift us profusely with apples, pears, pumpkins,
tomatoes and zucchini. Summer is waning in September. How grateful I am for cooler temperatures, the golden autumn light, as leaves start changing to yellow, gold and orange. It’s a time to really savor and appreciate all of the bountiful blessings.

Every day of the year is really a time of bounty. Just look around and you can’t miss the absolute abundance that exists in nature. Watching a PBS special on mammals recently, I became once again filled with awe at the Universe’s ability to create such magnificent diversity in the animal world. I keep learning about mammals I didn’t even know existed, adapting to their environments. For instance, there is an underground mammal named the Star Nosed Mole, whose nose looks like a colorful orange flower. Nearly blind, they
use their noses to feel and touch. So much splendor and diversity in Mother Nature, and in our lives. Wow.

I don’t know about you, but I am not always able to receive all the gifts of abundance that come to me. And I’m not always ready to accept all that the Universe (or Spirit) wants to present to me. A long time ago, I read something that impacted me a lot. Ernest Holnes talked about whether we are ready to accept a thimble full of our good from the ocean of plenty, or if can we accept a bucket, or a waterfall of Good instead? This made a big impression on me. I’ll take the larger vessel to receive my abundance, please.

Still, sometimes I get stuck in lack thinking. At times, I believe there is not enough, this happens most often when looking at a low amount in my checkbook. How can we let the abundance of the universe permeate our being and let go of lack thoughts? I suggest simple positive affirmations “My life is bursting with joy, love and prosperity.” Meditation helps too. Here is one by Jess Heslop on Clearing Negative Blockages & Limiting Beliefs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9j1nVRPe4Q Listening to beautiful music with powerful abundance lyrics helps me too: https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6cpbUHlpkg

Thank you to new subscribers who received my free ebook and/or my free PDF of Grace of Gratitude Reflections. My name is Deborah Perdue, and it’s my heart’s calling to share and spread gratitude in the world. Many thanks to my loyal gratitude tribe too!

I completely endorse being thankful for each day. I feel that life is precious and sacred, and to realize that every day is a gift to us, challenges or not, is paramount to happiness and joy and our well-being. If you look around and notice, how could you ever run out of things to be thankful for?! I keep finding more and more to be grateful for, as I keep exercising my gratitude muscle.
“I am blessed in countless ways by gifts from the Divine. I give thanks as I notice the beauty and see the good that surrounds me now.”
Mary Davis
What about being grateful continually? In every moment as well as every day? More from author Mary Davis: “When we keep contact with an inner thank you for the blessings of each day, we are appreciating the gifts of our life exactly as they are. We do this when we notice the joy in a child’s smile, the needed rain falling on thirsty plants, the favorite song on the radio. Every whisper of thanks and appreciation for the sile, the rain and the song brings light the extraordinary riches in the ordinary moments of today. Our sense of lack is replaced by our focus on abundance.” Wow! I’m going to invite in even more thankfulness into my awareness. I will play a song of gratitude in my heart as constantly as I can.

“There is much to be thankful for each day. Every Dawn as it comes is a holy event and everyday is holy.”
Roy Cook
As I woke up this morning, and saw the tangerines and pinks of the morning sun rising, I felt hope and optimism, and felt that this was a sign.
It truly is a miracle and blessing to wake up to each new day.
And the beauty of creation is beyond phenomenal.
Today, right now, I am so grateful for new beginnings, for the dawn of more love and peace and harmony in the world that is surely coming.

Joy, Joy, Joy – Deep in My Heart!

Thank you to new subscribers who received my free ebook. My name is Deborah Perdue, and it’s my heart’s calling to share and
spread gratitude in the world. Many thanks to my loyal gratitude tribe too.

Joy is indwelling. It is naturally within us, and always there for us to feel.

For me, being grateful helps me access joy. Right now, in the United States, we are celebrating Spring and it is extra-stunningly beautiful this year. In Oregon, we got a lot of snow and rain which helps the drought situation, and now I am seeing April and soon to-be May flowers everywhere. I am doing a Happy Dance to see the tulips, daffodils,

wisteria, lilacs and more coming soon. Nature always brings joy to my heart. Taking walks in nature brings peace and a deep sense of sacredness to me, and that elicits joy. Some of my other passions include creating art and photography, writing, teaching, swimming, sharing spirituality with like-minded folks, and being a homebody with our pets and my partner. All of this ignites my joy and zest for life. What are your passions?

Letting go of worries, doubts and fears helps us access more joy. If you are sad or grieving, don’t deny it. We need to feel all our emotions and not try to tuck them away. I have found that when I have grieved, the world does start looking brighter eventually. And then joy returns to my heart and soul. I also know that we can simultaneously be sad, and still feel joy. If I have lost a loved one, remembering my times with them can bring a happy smile to my face.

If you are sad or sick and/or just cannot find joy, here are a few ways you might re-discover it.

•  Write in a Gratitude Journal each day and night.
List 5 things that you appreciate it. Mix it up. Keep going.

• Guided Meditations – Go to YouTube or Insight Timer (a wonderful phone app). Do a search for Joy – there are many meditations to choose from. And I also recommend Gabby Bernstein’s All is Well 5 minute meditation. I never grow tired of it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNVTSpSSPQg

• Create a Vision Board for Joy – Find images or words on the internet or from magazines or calendars. Cut out what speaks to your heart and soul on finding more joy in your life. Put it all together on a big piece of paper and place it where you see it a lot, to amplify your joy and passion.

• Discovery, Exploration & Play – Each week, let yourself enjoy one new thing that brings you joy.
Delve into what brings you passion and joy, and share it with the world. Each of us can affect the world positively by doing what makes our hearts come alive. Be playful and free. Open your heart to be more loving and kind! Giving can help us be more joyful.
“Your purpose is to be joyful. Your purpose is to live with ease. Your purpose is to surrender to the love of the Universe so you can live a happy life. Accept the purpose of love, and your life will radically change this instant.”
Gabrielle Bernstein
