ThE SUpERpOwER OF GRATITUDE

OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

Picture

Today, I acknowledge the golden light of autumn.
I am in gratitude for this slowing-down season, a bridge to winter time.
As we step into a time of harvest, I reflect on all the bounty of this past year.
I am so grateful for the times I have spent with my dear family, those far away, and those right here with me including pets!
I am so thankful for the joy and forgetting-of-time I relish at the river in the summer, and whenever I am immersed in nature.
I am thankful for every way I have grown in inner strength, love, peace and trust – through challenges, and through my daily contemplation.

I relish the abundant cornucopia of good that is my sacred life. So thankful.

Living in the Oneness is a goal of mine. I get there, immersed in peace and bliss often with my morning spiritual practices, which I will share here along with other ideas for you. Maybe some of what I offer will resonate with your own heart and soul. You can give any of the ideas here a chance. It is my goal to share love and light in this world, and to help transform the world by shining light where there is darkness whenever I can.

7 UPLIFTING PRACTICES

1.Start each day with spirituality. Whatever your religion or path to your Higher Power is, devote time each morning to focus on that. Make your coffee or tea, and settle in for some quality God time. You can start with just a few minutes, and maybe expand it as you feel called. Here are some things I do each morning, you can pick and choose. I read and contemplate pages from inspirational books, some of them Daily Guides. I sometimes listen to quiet instrumental background music that sets the mood to be silent and listen. I meditate some mornings longer than others. There are many amazing meditations you can find on YouTube or Insight Timer (an app I recommend). You can change it up, or keep listening to the same ones that lift your heart. Each morning I pray as well, for people who have asked me, and for my own life. When I do these practices, long or short, I feel connected to the Oneness. I feel connected to God.

2.Take Stillness Moments throughout the day. You can use a timer, on the hour for example, and that will remind you to take time to center yourself. This can really helpif you’re always busy and running around, and even if you’re not. Breathe and be thankful.

3.Take meditative walks. Being in nature rejuvenates me, and I savor the beauty of the seasons. Right now, fall leaves are starting to change here in the U.S. I know in the Southern hemisphere, Spring is beginning. Watch what’s around you, be present. Feel the Oneness in the living world, we are all part of it and when we take time to notice, we get anchored in unity and harmony.

4.Enjoy a gratitude practice. You can journal, and/ or you can stop and give thanks at any time. You canwrite things down, or speak them silently or aloud. It’s a powerful practice to be thankful right when you awake, and before you go to sleep. I have been a gratitude aficionado for 15 years or longer, and I can attest to the superpower of appreciating everything. You can never run out! Gratitude can be infinite like the universe upon universe that we live in. It’s definitely an antidote to depression and upset.

5.Learn a Mantra. It can be very helpful to find a mantra, or make one up, that means a lot to you, that you can remember and say to yourself if ever you are feeling bothered or upset by the outside world. Here is one I use: God is the Love that I AM. I repeat it as needed, sometimes during the middle of the night when I wake up and my mind is too active to fall back to sleep.

6.Use Movement Spiritually. Practice yoga, Tai Chi or Chigong. There are YouTube videos you can use to guide you. Dancing is also very freeing. Listen to music you love while moving that body.

7.Try a Burning Bowl Ceremony. Forgiveness and letting go of grievances is so essential to freeing yourself. This practice can be for someone else, or you. Write down things you would like to release or let go of, then have a sacred ceremony and put each piece of paper in a bowl, lighting the paper up to release what no longer serves you until they are all consumed by fire (Obviously be safe doing this!) Alternatively, you could put the pieces of paper in a bowl, and then send them down a river. I have done both, and this is a very powerful way to heal.
